Mansur Memarian Print
urkunde_gourmand Mansur Mamarian is celebrated by gourmets as well as by the media and critics - in order to understand his background and career we need to look at his life story from the very beginning...

Mansur grew up in a little suburb of Teheran. He had 6 siblings and the family lived in a big house. Mansur discovered his passion for cooking very early, helping his mother with the daily preparation of meals. During the war between Iran and Irak (reaching its climax in 1988) young men were called up to the armed forces. Both of Mansurs brothers had been in war for one year. By making it possible for Mansur to go to Germany, his parents saved him from this fate. Also his Brother Saeid lived in Germany  at this time.

In 1996 he got his university-entrance-diploma (main subjects: mathematics and biology). If there had been the subject "cooking", he would have chosen it and would have passed it with flying colors.

1996-1999: Traineeship in "Villa Medici" in Krefeld

He immediately felt at home with Patron Guiseppe Buonnano and the Chef de Cuisine Pasquale Valentino - Mansur learned Italian and discovered his grand passion for cooking. After the completion of his traineeship, Mansur stayed until March 2000 and worked as Commis de Cuisine in "Villa Medici". A deep friendship still connects Mansur and his tutors.

Subsequently, he went to university on demand of his parents and his brother. He completed one semester of business studies. To keep the pot boiling, he worked as a dishwasher at the refectory. Soon he discovered that business studies weren't his life and so he decided to head for top-level gastronomy.
